In 2007, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the City of Eden, embarked on a comprehensive transportation plan for the City and adjacent area.   The City of Eden Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) is a joint effort between the City of Eden, the Piedmont Triad Rural Planning Organization, and the NCDOT – Transportation Planning Branch. The Eden CTP was unanimously approved by the Eden City Council on November 18, 2008 and was formally endorsed by the Piedmont Triad Rural Planning Organization on December 17, 2008. The Transportation Planning Branch recommended the mutual adoption of the Eden CTP on December 29, 2009. The North Carolina Board of Transportation approved the Eden CTP on February 5, 2009.
