GIS Projects

GIS Services are used in numerous projects within the Planning Department to aid in local and regional planning efforts:

     Land Development:

Piedmont Triad Land Supply Analysis (2009-2011)

     Environmental Planning:

Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin Priority Watershed Atlas (2009-2010): A GIS-based assessment of the river basin to select the most-stressed and best-conserved watersheds.

Lower Abbotts Creek Watershed Characterization & Restoration (2008-2011): A GIS model was developed to overlay land use and land cover data layers in order to select the top restoration and top conservation parcels with the watershed.

Rich Fork Creek Watershed Characterization & Restoration (2007-2010): A GIS model was developed to overlay land use and land cover data layers in order to select the top restoration and top conservation parcels with the watershed.

Stormwater SMART School Maps GIS used to classify the landcover types of school parcels
