On July 5th, the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) announced that the Yadkin River Basin Project, spearheaded by the Water Resources Division of the PTRC, is a recipient of a 2011 Innovation Award from the NADO Research Foundation. The foundation seeks to recognize and promote accomplishments in regional development across the US. The Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin Priority Watershed Assessment ranks the 232 watersheds within the North Carolina portion of the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin both for their conservation potential and their stress vulnerability. The Business Journal of the Triad recently named the PTCOG as a Health Care Hero of the Triad for 2009. The PTCOG was honored in the Small Employer Category based on company yoga and walking programs, flex time, ergonomic workstations, bike-to-work initiatives, alternative fuel fleet vehicles, and various other working conditions designed to promote the well-being of employees and the region.
The League of American Bicyclists recently named the PTCOG as one of 34 Bicycle Friendly Businesses across the US. The BGB program recognizes socially responsible businesses that promote healthy, happy, and green workplaces and provides a road map to become even more bicycle-friendly in the years to come.
