Management Services - Fair Labor Standards Act
new standards effective August 23, 2004

US Dept. of Labor’s Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations have been revised and these new standards become effective August 23, 2004. The revised standards are controversial and further congressional action could intercept the regulations implementation.

Employers need to be aware of ;

  •  the new salary threshold tests,
  •  how to handle disciplinary suspensions,
  •  considerations of implementing a safe-harbor policy, and
  •  the changes to criteria for highly compensated employees, executive, administrative, professional and computer employee exemption tests.
