Merger of the PTCOG and the NWPCOG occurred on July 1, 2011. The new Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC) is now the Lead Regional Organization for the Piedmont Triad region, including the metropolitan areas of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, and Burlington. It will serve 72 member governments in a 12 county region which includes Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin Counties. Matthew Dolge, executive director of the NWPCOG, has been named as Executive Director of the PTRC. Larry Beck, PTCOG Chairman and Dillard Burnette, NWPCOG Chairman have been named as co-chairmen of the newly formed organization.
