Emergency Medical Services

NC EMS Training Calendar

Ann Wood, the EMS Project Director for the Piedmont Triad Council of Governments, acts as liaison between the PTCOG, counties, providers, hospital personnel, NC Office of Emergency Medical Services, and others, to ensure continuation of regional EMS system development.

Regional EMS Training Regional
EMS Training is done at no cost to local providers through the North Carolina Community College system. Courses are taught at the request of local providers to maintain two- or three-year certifications.

In-county Testing
Regional in-county tests are provided for paramedics, Mobile Intensive Care Nurses (MICN's) and EMT-D personnel in all counties. About 125 people take these tests each year for state certification. All test banks are administered with the approval of the county medical advisor and the NC Office of EMS.

Regional Lending Library
The equipment in the regional lending library is used primarily by EMS services and for the provider courses. This is equipment that many services do not have readily available for training.

Municipal Training
Yearly OSHA training is available for municipalities, to supplement plans prepared previously by this office. Training for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automatic external defibrillators (AED's) is also available.

NC Emergency Services Calendar
The calendar is updated monthly or as needed. Classes are listed throughout the state that would be appropriate for public safety personnel. For additions to the calendar, please send notice to:
