Mission/Vision
It is the MISSION of the Piedmont Triad Council of Governments,
Area Agency on Aging to ensure maximum options and opportunities
exist for a "quality life" for older adults through advocacy, planning,
training, resource development and technical assistance.
It is the VISION of the Piedmont Triad Council of Governments Area
Agency on Aging to become the catalyst for design of a comprehensive
regional aging system.
In working within our region with member governments, public officials,
professionals, and citizens, this office performs the following services:
ADMINISTRATION
administration of federal, state, and local funds for programs serving
older persons and their caregivers at the local level
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
provision of technical assistance to local providers in service delivery,
development of new services, staff training and support
PLANNING
facilitation of planning for options and opportunities for an aging population
and caregivers, through monthly meetings with professionals, public
officials, advocates, and citizens (see calendar for county meeting dates
and times)
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
development of non-public support, for agencies through corporate,
philanthropic, and foundation opportunities
INFORMATION BROKERAGE
information and possible research on issues which may affect an aging population, caregivers, planners, service providers and citizens, and linkage to local, regional, state, and national resources which may benefit older adults and caregivers
ELDER RIGHTS
administration of an Elder Rights Program including the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program; Elder Mistreatment Prevention and Awareness Program; Legal Assistance Development Program; and the Outreach, Counseling and Assistance for Public Benefits Programs
